In June, 2001, Dr. H. Eddie Fox launched a new wholistic evangelism ministry, EvangeBicy, to provide bicycles for the dozens of Missionary Pastors serving the rapidly growing Methodist congregations in Cuba. At the meeting of the Regional Secretaries in England in July, Dr. Fox (at left) gave a check for the first 125 bicycles to Bishop Pereria Diaz of the Methodist Church in Cuba. As of September, a total of more than 300 bicycles have been given through World Evangelism by Methodists from around the world.

WORLD EVANGELISM'S EVANGEBICY MINISTRY PROVIDES 300 BICYCLES FOR CUBAN MISSIONARY PASTORS

The Methodist People, from Nigeria to Nashville and all across the United States, responded to the call of World Methodist Evangelism to stand alongside the “People Called Methodist in Cuba” by providing bicycles for the missionary pastors of Cuban Methodist house churches.

“We praise the Lord for the magnificent response of Methodists who have given 300 EvangeBicys in 90 days for our missionary pastors in Cuba,” said H. Eddie Fox, World Evangelism Director. “We are especially thankful to the children who gave Bible School and Sunday School offerings for the ministry of EvangeBicy.” One child sent a note to the missionary pastor who would receive a new EvangeBicy, “Dear Cuba people. Have fun on your bike. Go very fast. Jesus loves you and me. (signed) Leah.”

Bishop Ricardo Pereira Diaz of the Methodist Church in Cuba expressed his gratitude for the gift of the EvangeBicys, “We are grateful to World Methodist Evangelism and the people who have given this support. We have delivered our first EvangeBicys. One week later I came back to baptize two brothers from missions on behalf of the missionaries who received the bicycles.”

Fox said, “It is a great joy to be able to stand alongside our people in the Methodist Movement in Cuba. Our church is in the midst of a great revival. They have so much to share with the rest of the world, for they are a people who know what it means to depend on God and the power of the Holy Spirit.”

World Methodist Evangelism needs the continuing support of congregations and individuals for the ministries of “wholistic evangelism.” The ministries of EvangeSport, EvangeLit, EvangeMed and EvangeBicy reflect World Methodist Evangelism’s commitment to spread the good news of Christ Jesus through WORD, DEED AND SIGN.
