All of the volunteers and staff in the EvangeMed ministry are trained in the "GRACEful pattern of faith-sharing" and provided the Faith-Sharing New Testament in the Portuguese language for use in witnessing in the name of Jesus Christ.

The Faith-Sharing New Testament, that focuses on the "basics of Christian conversion and discipleship and the essentials for leading a person to Christ," has been published in thirty languages since 1996! This material is a key resource in multiplying the witnesses of Christ around the world. As leaders are trained and equipped by World Methodist Evangelism, they train and motivate others in the ministry of faith-sharing in the name of Christ Jesus on every continent.

A major component of the World Methodist Evangelism Emphasis is to multiply the faith-sharers of the gospel who have confidence and competence to witness to the name of Jesus Christ. The Faith-Sharing Initiative was launched at the World Methodist Conference in 1996 in Rio with the release of the Faith-Sharing New Testament. and has since been developed on every continent.

During the World Methodist Evangelism Emphasis, thousands of Wesleyant/Methodists around the world are being equipped with the skills and principles of the "graceful pattern for faith-sharing" through a pyramid of trainers and modern audio-visual training materials. In 2004 and early 2005, a worldwide series of Leadership Training Workshops are being held to prepare Faith-Sharing trainers to replicate the training to local groups after Pentecost 2005. The Faith-Sharing text book, the continuing development of the Faith-Sharing New Testament in indigenous languages, and Regional Seminars of the WME Institute are being utilized in the training of these worldwide Faith Sharers.

WEB BASED FAITH-SHARING TRAINING

In addition, Faith-Sharing training for individuals is being developed as an interactive web-based training program that will be available to persons around the world on this website.

NORTH AMERICAN CONFERENCES

In North America, Faith-Sharing training events utilize the resources written and developed by H. Eddie Fox and George E. Morris.

These events have been conducted for ten annual conferences. In some cases, entire conferences have made commitments for the training of leaders who, in turn, trained others to multiply many fold the number of Methodists trained to share the good news of Christ using the "graceful pattern for faith-sharing." Congregations have made commitments in a covenant for faith-sharing that includes:

  1. Giving a Faith-Sharing New Testament to all new members.
  2. Providing training in faith-sharing for new members (as the first class after membership) with a goal of training one-third of the membership.
  3. Encouraging members to follow the Wesleyan pattern of prayer and fasting.
  4. Utilizing key cultural events for evangelistic worship
  5. Inviting other congregations to join the covenant.
