Lexa Ennis is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and has provided leadership in the Wesleyan Church in the areas of worship, missions, youth, young adults, church planting, pastoring and teaching. Lexa is passionate about empowering Christ followers to become the visible body of Christ in their communities. She will help us see the power of our own personal stories and the importance of seeing the way those stories intersect with God’s greater work in the world.
A graduate of Candler School of Theology, Dominique Robinson has a passion for reaching millennials. Dominique has developed iHomiletic, a contemporary preaching method to reach millennials using social media linguistics and will open us to new ways to engage, interpret, embody, and proclaim the Gospel.
Having taught preaching at both Duke Divinity School and Fuller School of Theology, Joy Moore now provides leadership, not just for the academy, but for the local church. A gifted preacher and teacher, Joy will open the Scripture to us in worship and enable us to go deeper into the art of preaching for response.
A native of Brazil, Paulo Lopes has spent his life at the intersection of personal and social holiness. Drawing on his experiences in both Brazil and the United States, Paulo will open us to a deeper understanding of human need and the many ways evangelism is intertwined with meeting the needs of others.
Zach Szmara is lead pastor at The Bridge, a multi-cultural, multi-lingual congregation that provides Department of Justice recognized legal services for immigrants. A significant leader in the Wesleyan Church’s nationwide Immigrant Connection Ministries and a vital part of WME’s Next Generation Advisory Board, Zach will enable us to see the holistic nature of sharing the Good News of Jesus in the context of community ministries.
Chase Stancle is the Worship Leader for the Order of the FLAME. The FLAME community is blessed by Chase’s musical gifts as well as his sensitivity to the Holy Spirit in worship. In addition to leading our worship experiences, Chase will provide insight into ways we can open ourselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit in multi-cultural contexts of worship and community life.
Kaloma Smith has been a FLAME member since 2016 and has a deep understanding of what it means to be a mission evangelist in his community. His passion for ministry is empowering the church to transform its community. Kaloma will give us insights into communicating with those outside the church, and help us make strong connections between our faith and the ever changing communities around us.
Luigi Penaranda, who was born in Bogata, Columbia and received his call to ministry while pursuing a career in Sound Engineering, was a former church planter, pastor of one of the largest Hispanic congregations in the US, and an integral part of the Los Angeles Church Planting Movement. Now in academics, Luigi brings his passion for biblical studies and leadership development to the task of forming the new Spanish Language component of the FLAME. We will be blessed by his insights and his preaching.
Jeremy Steel has passion for reaching younger generations for Jesus. He has written on youth ministry and a variety of other topics and is the lead pastor for NewSong, Christ Church’s modern worship service on Sundays, and High Point worship, Christ Church’s young adult worshipping community on Thursdays. Jeremy is a 2015 member of the FLAME community and he will focus on reaching younger generations through preaching, media, and other communication.
Joel Lopez is a church worship consultant with more over 20 years experience in the local church, as a musician, and music producer. His passion is to help pastors and worship leaders reach their communities in ways that transcend cultures and generations. Joel will help us make strong connections between our worship and the movement of the Holy Spirit as we seek to break down the barriers of mono-culture and embrace the multi-cultural, multi-generational worship that marks the kingdom of God.
A native of the Philippines, Luther Oconor is an ordained elder in the Pampanga Philippines Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Luther will help us explore the significant role of the Holy Spirit in the Wesleyan Movement and the importance of cultivating the presence of the Spirit as we follow Jesus.
Matt Hook serves as the Spiritual Director for the Order of the FLAME. Under Matt’s leadership FLAME gatherings become wide open to the movement of the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, and personal reflection.
As a 2015 FLAME member, Kelcy Steele has provided leadership not only through his preaching and teaching at Varick Memorial, but through his commitment to the New Haven community in which he serves. Kelcy will share his into preaching and community organizing with us, helping us to connect the faith within us to the real world around us.
Dave Smith has a passion for helping people study the scriptures effectively. In addition to teaching at IWU, he and his wife, Angie are founders of True^North, a ministry that focuses on teaching congregations how to study Scripture, as well as teaching them how to teach others to study. With a long history in the academy, publishing, and the local church, Dave will bring his passion to us each morning in Bible Study.
Kimberly Reisman is the Executive Director of World Methodist Evangelism. Kim will help us develop a strong theological foundation for showing and sharing the love of Jesus by exploring evangelism from the perspective of embrace. Through the metaphor of embrace, Kim will outline the essential values that ground all faith sharing.
