Lay People with A Vision

These affirmations from our website reveal the heart of World Methodist Evangelism. You may be, or know, a pastor with a missional heart intent on allowing God to work through you in the world. How many lay people do you know who exhibit vision for the inbreaking Kingdom of God?
Some lay people move beyond commitments to teach a children’s Sunday School class or volunteer at a food pantry. They’re eager to sign up for more; they want more material to read and study; they may go on a short-term mission trip or accompany you to a conference. They may never attend seminary or enter vocational ministry, but they are an essential part of God’s mission, reaching people that full-time ministers may never meet.
Pray that God would raise up lay people who will invite God to open their hearts and eyes. Pray that God would raise up lay people who will study their habits and lives and develop awareness of their own gifts and abilities. Pray that God would raise up lay people who will allow their hearts and minds to be softened to areas of need. Pray that God would raise up lay people who step out in faith when they see a way to share their faith. Pray that God would raise up lay people who nurture the discipline of joining with God in a global mission to the whole of creation, practicing a witness through word, deed and sign.
